So I'm back to what I know works -- Weight Watchers (called WW from here on out). I have used the program numerous times and have lost 20 - 40 lbs every time I've tried. I've just never made it that constant lifestyle. I look up to the woman who have -- I met a women who has been on the program for 7 years, she just takes it as an every day thing and it's just part of life. That's what I have always loved about Weight Watchers -- they tell you it's a lifestyle, not a diet. And it's true, after a while you just kinda get to know what you can and can't (or shouldn't since you CAN eat everything) eat.
This past weekend I went to my first weekend, they were giving a "free month" away if you signed up for the monthly pass so I went and did that and sat through my first "meeting" in over two years. When I stood on that scale my heart sank, I hadn't weighed myself really since sometime after the wedding when we came back from our Honeymoon. I couldn't believe the weight I had gained, it was so sad. Now I know how I've been feeling like such shit over the past few months, it's amazing how some weight gain can take such a toll on you.
The meeting was extremely motivational and then I went home and packed up my bags -- to head to Vegas. Awesome, let's start off our new diet by spending a couple of days in Vegas. Although I didn't completely hold back I did watch what I ate and got the Hubs to share with me. Once we were back I made sure I was journaling and keeping track of all of my points and I've been doing what I feel to be awesome this week. We will see just how awesome I feel when I go for my first weigh in this weekend (when you read this I will have already weighed in and I will post about it shortly!).
The hubs is being really supportive and although he refuses to go to the meetings (which is fine, saves us another $40 a month) he is doing the program with me. Which basically means I'm doing double the work -- I do the cooking, I pack his lunch, and I keep track of his points for the most part. It's great having him do it with me because we have each other to hold accountable. Another great support system is one of my best friends, LB. She is a rock star when it comes to dieting, she like me is someone whos weight has fluctuated her entire life --- but when LB is on a diet that girl rocks it. She joined with me to lose an extra 20-30 lbs to get down to her total goal weight and we've been swapping a lot of recipes via email and encouraging each other via email and text message.

LB and I in Vegas at Planet Hollywood this past July.
So wish me luck on this new journey, I'm not planning on turning this into a total diet blog but it will be something you will be seeing me blog about quite frequently -- you don't know this but you guys are also a HUGE inspiration to me. All of the kind words you always offer me does more for me then you know! At the time I can't get myself to fully admit to y'all how much I weigh but I'm sure once I shed a good amount I won't have a problem -- I will on the other hand be sharing with you all of my losses (and I'm sure a few gains).

I'm so happy to hear you are taking this weight loss seriously, with or without the help of television. I'm hoping you can motivate me to lose my post baby weight (I'm already sick of my weight gain). I'm looking forward to hearing your perspective, highs and lows of WW. Lots of luck!
You can do it, gal!! We're all here for you. I'm glad to hear Brad is joining you. It is SO important to have the support of your spouse when facing issues like this (weight loss, quitting smoking, quitting drinking, etc.) Keep up the "lifestyle change" mentality and you'll do great. Diets don't work...changing your lifestyle does.
Congrats and you know we are all here for you every step of the way!
I'm so excited for you, I totally love Weight Watchers and TOTALLY know it works too... I've actually been thinking about getting back on it, so I think you might have just shoved me back to it. =) Best of luck to you!
And my Mom's FAVORITE saying:
You can't think your way into a new way of living, you have to live your way into a new way of thinking.
It's so much easier when you and your spouse are doing the healthy lifestyle together. WW hasn't worked that well for me (because I haven't made it a lifestyle), but I'm currently cutting out processed foods which has helped a TON. I have to cook more and I haven't gone out to eat in a month (so there are a lot more dishes), but I feel so much better.
Congrats for making the decision to get your weight back on track! I like you have always had my weight fluctuate usually 30 pounds and was on the way to start trying to loose them again when I found out i was pregnant.
I know you can do this and I like I know your other followers will be here to encourage you!
Good for you!!! I know you can do this and kick the weight's butt!! Just take it a day at a time and try not to get discouraged and remember its ok to give in every once in a while, just keep track of those points! My dad has been doing WW since early May and is down almost 40 pounds! PS: he doesn't exercise, just does the food. If he can do it, anyone can do it!!
Good luck! I look forward to following your journey and seeing what works/doesn't work for you. Know that in chronicling your own journey, you'll be helping a lot of us too!
Go you! I'm here cheering you on.
Wishing you the best of luck! If you are interested in an extra support system go check out sparkpeople, I love it and it is free! My Mom and I are on it and have lost a total of 50 pounds in the last 3 months between the two of us! By the way I didnt want to tell anyone about how much I weighed (not even my hubby) but I realized that once I told people it felt good to let it out! Started at 260 now at 240!
I've always done well on WW. Good luck! I'm sure you can do it!
You can do it, hot stuff!!! NO NUTS NO GLORY!!!!!
And p.s. as a aside note to possibly make you feel better about the biggest loser... we played their office's team in softball over the last weekend and we kicked their asses... so BOOM. Small victory? Yes. But an important one all the same...
I can't wait to get started and do this with you!!! I love your motivation Laura!!!
Go Get 'Em! You WILL do it!!!! I have been reading your blog since "With this ring, I thee blog" You are a beautiful person and a tough coookie! SCREW Biggest Loser!
